Our Chapter placed 4th overall at the recent Farm Yard Follies event at the DuQuoin State Fair. Check out the recent article.
The Mt. Vernon FFA recently attended the Farm Yard Follies event at the DuQuoin State Fair on August 28, 2006. Farm Yard Follies is an annual event hosted by the Benton FFA Chapter and is open to all the FFA Chapters in District V, which encompasses Southern Illinois.
The event is set up as a team competition in which members compete in several different events including a tarp race, bat race, back seat driving, tug of war, shovel race, balloon toss, bail stacking, and bail toss. The total scores from each event are added together to form an overall score to rank the teams.
We had 54 members attend the event and ended up placing in about every event. We placed 4th overall as a Chapter which is the best we have done in several years. The other schools placing included: 1st—Egyptian, 2nd—Cobden, 3rd—Webber, 5th—Waltonville.
